The school's second annual moorland ramble saw families and their dogs come together to raise money for the national children's charity, with the £170 raised going towards its work supporting children and young people across the country.

A school community has stepped out together across the moorland near Buckland Monachorum to support children across the country.

Children, parents and their four-legged companions from St Andrew’s CofE Academy set off from St Andrew’s Church on Saturday, October 17, for the school’s second annual moorland ramble, raising £170 for Children in Need.

The school said families enjoyed spending time together, taking in the scenery and sharing a walk for a good cause. Plenty of well-behaved canine walkers joined the group.

St Andrew’s thanked everyone who took part and donated, as well as Mrs Trueman for organising another successful event.

Headteacher Debbie Nunn said: “It was wonderful to see our children and families come together to enjoy the beautiful moorland around us while raising money for such an important cause. Thank you to everyone who took part and donated. We are delighted to have raised £170 for Children in Need and are proud of our school community for making a difference.”

Children in Need is a national children’s charity, and the money raised by the school will go towards its work supporting children and young people across the country.

St Andrew’s is rated Good by Ofsted. Inspectors noted that the school’s values of love, joy, hope, resilience, respect and friendship run through all aspects of school life, and that pupils know how these values help them to be caring and thoughtful members of society.

The school is part of the Learning Academy Partnership, a trust of 18 schools serving a range of distinctive communities across Cornwall, Devon and Torbay. The trust says its core purpose is to enable “Flourishing Futures” for children by working together as a values-led family of schools.

Tracey Cleverly, Trust Lead at the Learning Academy Partnership, said: “Events like this are a lovely example of how schools can bring their communities together to support others. The ramble gave families the opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoy each other’s company and contribute to a charity that supports children and young people across the country. Well done to everyone involved in raising £170 for Children in Need.”
