Two bears escaped from their home at Wildwood Devon, a wildlife park located within Escot Park near Ottery St Mary, today (Monday 23 June).

Devon and Cornwall Police were alerted and sent specialist officers to the scene.

Visitors at the park were moved to places of safety as a precaution.

A police spokesperson said: “We were made aware of two resident bears having escaped from their home at Escot Park on the afternoon of Monday 23 June. Specialist officers attended and visitors taken to places of safety. The bears were safely returned to their area and secured."

The bears were returned safely to their home, which has since been secured.
