A major route in Torbay has now reopened after a seven-vehicle crash caused long delays on the A380 Hellevoetsluis Way this afternoon.
Police were called at 1.35pm following reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway near Marldon.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called at 1.35pm following a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the A380 Hellevoetsluis Way.
"It was reported that seven vehicles were involved. A road closure was put in place. Two people were checked over by the ambulance service having sustained what are believed to be minor injuries.
"The road has since reopened.”
Live traffic monitoring services first reported the southbound closure at around 2.05pm, with the road blocked between Marldon Road (Gallows Gate Roundabout) and Preston Down Road (Preston Down Roundabout).
At 2.08pm and 2.18pm, the A380 remained fully closed with queueing traffic building in the area.
By 2.55pm, the route was described as closed with queueing traffic due to the multi-vehicle collision, before later being updated to partially blocked at around 3.04pm.
By 3.18pm, one lane remained closed and delays continued, though the situation was easing as recovery took place.
The road has since fully reopened and traffic is returning to normal.
