Stagecoach South West is inviting passengers across Exeter to support local families this Christmas by taking part in its 2025 festive fundraising campaign in partnership with Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Throughout November and December, travellers on all Exeter bus routes can make donations directly on board via a QR code, with all contributions helping children and families living with life-limiting conditions across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.

The campaign does not accept cash or contactless donations, and drivers will not prompt passengers, the option to give is simply available for anyone who wishes to support the campaign.

CHSW, the only dedicated children’s hospice provider in the South West, has been offering specialist care and respite support for more than 30 years.

For Exeter resident Sarah Thompson, whose young son has benefitted from CHSW services, the campaign is a personal reminder of the hospice’s impact. “We were able to spend precious time together as a family during a very difficult period, thanks to the support we received,” she said.

“It’s amazing that people can help other families just by making a small donation while travelling on the bus.”

Peter Knight, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, said: “We’re proud to support a charity that makes such an extraordinary difference to families across the region.

We hope our customers in Exeter will join us in giving generously this Christmas to help Children’s Hospice South West continue its incredible work.”

Paul Courtney, Director of Fundraising at CHSW, added: “This partnership allows passengers to make a real impact on local children and families during a challenging time of year.”

“Together we can help them navigate the unimaginable and provide vital care when it’s needed most.”

Stagecoach highlighted the wider importance of the appeal: “Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for families facing the unimaginable, and we’re proud to support Children’s Hospice South West through our Christmas appeal this year.”

“The charity provides extraordinary care, comfort, and compassion to children with life-limiting conditions, as well as vital support for their families. Through the generosity of our customers and our teams across the region, we hope to raise both awareness and much-needed funds so that more local families can continue to receive the specialist care they rely on.”

“Every donation, big or small, helps make a real difference at a time when it’s needed most. We are grateful to everyone who is able to support the appeal and help spread a little kindness across our communities this festive season.”

Passengers who wish to donate online can visit the CHSW Christmas donation page for more information.
