Torbay residents are being invited to meet local police officers and raise any concerns at a community drop-in surgery later this month.
The Torquay Neighbourhood Police Team will be at the former O2 mobile phone shop at 77 Union Street on Wednesday 21 January, between 11am and 2pm.
Police said the event is aimed particularly at people with questions or concerns around anti-social behaviour (ASB), and will offer an opportunity to speak directly with officers and partner agencies.
Inspector Rob Harvey, from the Torquay Neighbourhood Police Team, said the pop-up surgery was part of efforts to increase visibility and accessibility within the town centre.
“The Torquay Neighbourhood Police Team are always looking at different ways to be more visible and accessible to the communities of Torquay,” he said.
“This is our first pop-up community surgery for Torquay town centre in 2026 and it has a particular focus on anti-social behaviour.”
He added that the event will be attended by Devon & Cornwall Police anti-social behaviour legal expert Machaela O’Brien, alongside key members of Torbay Council.
“The ASB delivery manager and the lead for the Community Safety Partnership will be with us between 11am and 2pm,” he said. “This is a great opportunity to speak to the right people about any ASB concerns or issues you may have.”
Visitors will also be able to have bicycles security marked and collect crime prevention items during the event.
Torquay Town Centre Manager Darryn Brown, who oversees the town centre officers, will also be supporting the surgery.
Torquay is one of Devon & Cornwall Police’s designated hotspot policing areas, which has received Home Office funding to support additional high-visibility foot patrols aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour and increasing public confidence.
Residents can also sign up to the Devon & Cornwall Police Community Messaging scheme to receive local incident updates, crime prevention advice and information about community events. Updates are also shared via the Torquay Police Facebook page.
