Theatre Royal Plymouth has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its regional Artist Development programme, offering donors the chance to win an exclusive meet and greet with dance icons Dame Darcey Bussell and Sir Matthew Bourne.

The theatre, a registered charity, aims to help local artists establish careers, build connections, and develop their creative work through this initiative.

All funds raised will contribute to supporting emerging artists in Plymouth and the wider South West region.

Everyone who donates will be entered into a prize draw. The grand prize includes an onstage meet and greet with Dame Darcey Bussell, Sir Matthew Bourne, and the theatre’s CEO and Artistic Director, James Mackenzie-Blackman.

Winners will also receive tickets to the show and post-show drinks.

A second prize includes tickets to watch Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell at Theatre Royal Plymouth, an exclusive backstage tour, a pre-show food and drinks package, interval refreshments in the Members’ Lounge, and a signed programme.

Lucy Howe, Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy, said: “The Artist Development programme provides a vibrant community hub; connecting artists and makers across Plymouth and the wider South West region, and helping these emerging artists to develop their practice and reach their potential. Part of how we help, is by providing resources and space and organising collaborative events. All of this requires funding, and for that, we rely on community support. The Crowdfunder is a great way to raise crucial income for such community outreach projects with the added benefit of a chance to win a money-can’t-buy experience.”

The crowdfunding campaign runs until Thursday 10 July.

Donations start at £5 for one entry, with options of £10 for three entries or £50 for 20 entries.

Winners will be contacted on Friday 11 July.

The draw coincides with upcoming events featuring Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell and An Evening with Sir Matthew Bourne & Dame Darcey Bussell (…& James), both scheduled for next month at the theatre.
