Bobby celebrating her 100th birthday in January
Earlier this year, The Moorlander told the story of Barbara 'Bobby' Blatchford who celebrated her 100th birthday in January. Bobby joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force when she was just 17 years old and worked from Exeter airport, plotting enemy planes. Bobby was a resident of Mulberry House in Bovey Tracey in recent years but still loved to travel and visit family.
Attributing her long and healthy life to good diet, an active lifestyle, the love of friends and family and her faith, Bobby sadly passed away on 24th July.
Her funeral will be held at St Blaise Church, Haccombe, on August 29th. The service will begin at midday with a lunch for family and friends afterwards.
If you knew Bobby and would like to come to the church and/or the lunch, please let her son know by emailing royb88@gmail.com for details.
