Launch of poetry book to raise funds for Chagford Community & Memory Café

‘Leaning on the Gate’ is a collection of poems by Hazel Cork who is a guest at Chagford Community & Memory Café (CC&MC). She often reads a poem or two out to the guests who attend the monthly sessions. Chagford Community Trust have kindly given the cafe a grant and Hazel, who lives near Chagford, has generously donated her life’s work of poetry. In collaboration with CC&MC and with exquisite illustrations from a local artist, Hazel’s very personal and heartfelt words are brought to life as a collection of poems published as a hard back book for all to enjoy.

A book launch and signing by the author will take place at Chagford Flea Market on Friday, 12th December, just in time to buy that stocking filler for Christmas. A book will also be ‘gifted’ at Christmas to each of the CC&MC guests so that they can enjoy Hazel’s wonderful poems in the comfort of their own homes. There are also plans to produce an audio version for visually impaired guests. Copies of the book will be sold to the public to raise funds for CC&MC.

CC&MC meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Jubilee Hall. Everyone is welcome. Please drop by and join in.

Book launch – Friday 12th December 9am – 1pm in Jubilee Hall, Chagford
