Police confirm casualty after late-night A30 collision near Honiton in early March

A man has died following a serious collision on the A30 near Honiton last month, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called at around 10pm on Tuesday, 10 March, to reports of a collision in a layby on the A30 westbound near Fenny Bridges, in East Devon.

It was reported that a Vauxhall van had collided with a parked heavy goods vehicle (HGV). 

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s from Hampshire, was taken to hospital with multiple serious injuries.

Police have now confirmed that, despite medical treatment, “the man has sadly died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision”.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police initially issued an appeal following the collision, which occurred overnight on the A30 near Honiton. 

Officers thanked members of the public for their patience while the road was closed to allow for a full investigation at the scene.

Enquiries remain ongoing.
