Victory for Bradworthy in North / East Final
The big game in the Devon Women's Football League this week was the North/East Cup Final, played at Crediton United's ground between Bradworthy from the Premier Division and promotion-chasing Honiton Town from the N/E Division.
A pulsating fast-paced game was decided in the closing minutes with a goal from Bradworthy's Chloe Lloyd, which gave them the trophy.
Bradworthy will now play the SB Oak Villa, the winners of the South/West Cup at Devon FA, Coach Road on Thursday, May 30, kick off 7.15pm.
In the Premier Division, on Monday May 15, on a wet and windy artificial surface, Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police played hosts to Plympton Ladies, who received their championship trophy before the kick off.
This seemed to inspire the home side as they raced into a 2-0 lead and continued to dominate the first half.
Plympton fought back and with only minutes remaining were leading 5 - 4, but a late equaliser for Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police resulted in a point apiece for both teams from a thrilling encounter.
On target for S.G. was Ella-Mae Evans-Pitts with a hat trick, with singles from Keanna Cann and Leanne Robbins. In reply, Sam Metters scored twice, with Bella Brown-Tunnell, Codie Al-Cleugh and Dionne Igalawuye bagging one each.
In the reverse fixture played on Friday May 17, four goals from Sam Metters and hat tricks by Bella Brown-Tunnell and debutante, Isabelle Firth gave Plympton ladies a convincing 10 - 1 win.
Then on Sunday, playing their third game in less than a week, they were unable to repeat these performances and had to settle to a point from a 2 - 2 draw away to Westexe Park Rangers, whose both goals were scored by Imogen Luke.
Imogen Luke had also been on target, along with Ana Curtis and Grace Woodman as Westexe lost 3 - 4 at home to Budleigh Salterton on Wednesday May 15.
Teignmouth are finishing the season strongly with two home wins. On Monday May 15, they beat Fremington 4 - 1, with goals from Mollie Hambridge (2), Chloe Driscoll and Ellie Teverson. They followed this up with a 1 - 0 victory on Sunday against cup winners Bradworthy.
In the N/E Division, Hemyock played twice, with mixed results. On Wednesday, they squeezed home 2 - 1, with a winner three minutes from time against Halwill. Hannah Barker and Emily Bertin scored for Hemyock, with Anne-Marie Latham replying.
On Sunday they were at home again, with Braunton the visitors, who took the points home after a 4 - 1 win. Ellie Joyce scored twice and Caitlin Hewitt and Ruby Hern scoring the others. Maddie Booker notched a consolation for Hemyock.
The bottom two teams, RBL Alphington and Uni Exeter, met and fought out a 3 - 3 draw to collect a point each.
