Special guests welcomed to Chagford

Special guests welcomed to Chagford

In October, Chagford is hosting two free talks about the energy crisis, saving money and sustainability.

On 2nd October, energy expert Fuad Al-Tahil will address the question “Can I be environmentally sound and still save money?” Fuad is from Teign Energy Communities, a community benefit organisation which supports local businesses or individuals who want to do something “green” but lack the technical expertise or the deep pockets, and they’ve been making a success of this for some years. Bring along your solar panel queries, your retrofitting problems, your questions about heat pumps – Fuad will try to answer them all!  That’s at The Globe Inn, 7.30pm on Monday, 2nd October.

And for a separate event, one man in South Brent became tired of endlessly giving money to giant energy corporations to burn non-renewable carbon when there is so much free wind energy to be had on Dartmoor. Edward “Joddy” Chapman will describe how he and others battled with bureaucracy - and figured out the technology - to get permission for the wind turbine which now provides electricity for 100 homes in South Brent. It all started with a chat in the pub…. Anyone interested in local and community energy will find it a must. That’s on 16th October, 7.30pm at The Globe Inn.
