The International Sheep Dog Society has announced the return of the popular Sheepdog Trialing event to Dartmoor, Devon, this August.

Sheepdog trialling continues to attract a large and dedicated following both from within the UK and internationally.

Many attendees come to relive the charm and excitement reminiscent of the classic program.

The Trials and Country Fair will be hosted at Moorlands Farm, near Princetown (PL20 6SP), from August 8 to 11.

Over the span of four days, the top 150 singles and 9 brace dogs in England will vie for a prestigious spot on the English team.

Only the top 15 singles and 4 brace dogs will earn the honour of representing England at the International trial in Lanarkshire, Scotland, set for September 12 to 14.

Notably, the competition will include several skilled participants from the West Country who have qualified through numerous local trial competitions.

The event kicks off on Thursday at 12pm and runs until approximately 6pm.

From Friday to Sunday, activities will begin early at 7am and continue through to 7pm.

The culmination of the event on Sunday, August 11, will see the crowning of the National Champion, followed by presentations to those who will join the England team for the International competition.

Running concurrently with the trials is the vibrant Country Fair, featuring a variety of stalls, catering options, and a bar open daily until late.

Special events at the fair include a Tug o’ War competition on Friday evening and a family dog show on Saturday afternoon, with live music performances later in the day.

This year's event is supported by a host of sponsors, including the Duchy of Cornwall and Dartmoor Hill Farm, Ginsters of Cornwall, the National Farmers Union, British Wool, and National Parks, among others.
