The third annual Princetown Fire Station 10k run was held on Friday 30 May, raising £4,045.50 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

A total of 172 runners took part in the event, which began at 6.30pm, with competitors travelling from across Devon and Cornwall.

“Every year I am blown away by the fantastic support the event gets from the running community,” said Simon Wallace, a member of Princetown Fire Station.

“With runners coming from all over Devon and Cornwall, the support from the local community is fantastic as well.”

The event continues to grow in popularity, thanks in part to support from volunteers and local businesses.

“It really has become a community event now, with volunteers helping out and local businesses supporting the event,” said Mr Wallace.

“It would not have been possible without their help and support.”

Male winner Theo Burgess completed the race in 35 minutes and 24 seconds, followed by John Terry in second place and Kevin Watkinson in third.

Among the female runners, Joanne Page took first place, with Georgie Farr and Claire Paice finishing second and third respectively.

“The money raised will mean a lot to the charity,” Mr Wallace added.

“They do fantastic work providing support to members of the fire services community including serving and retired firefighters and their families.”

The run was praised for its friendly and uplifting atmosphere.

“There were so many highlights,” said Mr Wallace, “but for me the highlight of the event is always the fantastic atmosphere, meeting amazing people who support the event.”

“There is always loads of smiling faces and people having a good time, which is what the event is all about.”

The total raised over three years now exceeds £10,000.

Organisers hope to bring the event back next year.

“We are hoping to run the event again in 2026,” Mr Wallace said, “so look forward to welcoming everybody again for another brilliant evening.”
