Award-winning science show to light up Exeter Corn Exchange this August

Science like you’ve never seen it before

Mark visits Exeter this summer

Exeter is set for an explosive mix of education and entertainment later this summer when renowned science broadcaster and author Mark Thompson brings his Mark’s Spectacular Science Show to the Exeter Corn Exchange on Saturday, 30th August at 2.30pm.

The performance forms part of Thompson’s 10th anniversary UK tour, celebrating a decade of his high-energy stage shows that have inspired audiences across the country. First launched in 2015, Mark’s Spectacular Science Show quickly became a family favourite, winning ‘Best Kids Show’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and earning a reputation for transforming complex scientific concepts into jaw-dropping, laugh-out-loud demonstrations.

Billed as “science like you’ve never seen it before”, the live event combines theatrical flair with real experiments, including exploding elephant’s toothpaste, vortex-generating dustbins, and the famously dramatic howling jelly babies. The show is designed to engage both children and adults, making it a perfect family day out.

Mark Thompson is no stranger to the public eye. Over the years, he has become one of the UK’s most recognisable science communicators through TV, radio, podcasts, theatre tours, and a string of bestselling books. He has lectured at prestigious venues including the Royal Astronomical Society, The Royal Institution, and the Norwich Science Festival.

Thompson’s latest book, 101 Facts You Didn’t Know About Space, has topped astronomy charts in both the UK and Canada, while his newest venture, the Cosmic Commerce podcast, explores the fast-growing space sector, from tourism and innovation to safety and security.
