Okehampton drivers face overnight road closures in major September works

Overnight closures are planned across Okehampton and Stockley from September 14 as road treatment works take place on East Street, Exeter Road and the road past Fatherford Farm
Drivers in Okehampton and Stockley are being warned of overnight road closures from next week as road treatment works are carried out.
Devon County Council is due to carry out route-based treatment works on East Street, Exeter Road and the road past Fatherford Farm.
The closures are scheduled to begin next Monday, 14 September, and are expected to continue until Friday, 25 September.
According to a temporary traffic order issued by Devon County Council, the roads will be closed between 7pm and 7am during the works.
The order applies to East Street, Exeter Road and the road past Fatherford Farm in Okehampton and Stockley.
A signed diversion route will direct traffic via Exeter Road, the A30, A386, Holsworthy Road, Beacon Down Hill and the B3260, and vice versa.

Devon County Council said the temporary restrictions are necessary to allow route-based treatment works to take place.
Information provided by Okehampton Business Improvement District (BID) says the roads will remain open during the daytime, meaning normal daytime access to the town centre, industrial estates and railway stations will be maintained.
Residents have raised questions about the overnight closure times on social media, with comments on an Okehampton Town Council post asking whether the restrictions will run from 7pm to 4am or 7pm to 7am.
An official Devon County Council traffic order states that the restrictions will apply between 7pm and 7am.
The order has a maximum duration of 18 months, but gives an anticipated finish date of Friday, 25 September.
The notice was dated Monday, 7 September, with works being carried out by M Group.
