Constantin Ursu
Like all sports, the boxing world is gearing up for 2026 with bags of hope, enthusiasm and optimism, and Devon could have a global sensation over the next 12 months.
Since arriving in Plymouth from Moldova as a teenager, Constantin Ursu has enjoyed a rapid rise through the boxing ranks, both in terms of results and reputation.
His coach Marlee Dann is convinced Ursu has all the credentials to become a contender for world titles, and the evidence all points in that direction. Ursu recently added the European welterweight title to a collection that already boasted the Commonwealth crown and he fights Owen Cooper for the vacant British belt in February.
Since moving to Plymouth in 2018, Ursu, 2025, has developed a huge affection for the area and also become a committed Argyle fan. He is often seen running around the city and it might not be long before those are the runs of a world champion.
