Dartmoor Preservation Association has announced that applications are open for their fully funded Future Skills Course, which is being offered by Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA).
This exciting opportunity is designed for young people aged 16-17, with the aim of providing them with valuable skills and insights into careers in conservation, preservation, and land management.
The residential course will take place from Monday 17 to Friday 21 February 2025 at Haytor, Dartmoor.
It is fully funded, meaning there is no cost involved for participants.
The deadline for applications is this Sunday, 12 January.
The course will cover a range of activities, from technical skill development such as archaeology, peatland management, and wildlife surveys, to personal development sessions and networking with experts in the field.
Participants will also have the chance to connect with other like-minded young people who share an interest in environmental careers.
The Dartmoor Preservation Association (DPA) has said they are delighted to support DNPA with this initiative.
The two organisations have worked together since 2023, collaborating on projects like 'Girls Do Dartmoor,' which recently won both the New Perspectives and People’s Choice awards at the Campaign for National Parks National Park Protector Awards.
The Future Skills course builds on this success, offering young people the chance to learn from leaders in the field and be inspired to become the Dartmoor protectors of tomorrow.
Applications can be submitted via the DNPA website. To apply, applicants must meet the following criteria:
