Lambs earn dramatic draw at Larkhall
It is no question that Tavistock face a tough fight for survival in Division One South of the Southern League and every point matters as they look to climb out of the bottom four.
A trip to Larkhall Athletic, one of the sides they are hoping to chase down in 2025, had all the ingredients for a cracking encounter, and both teams delivered.
The home side started in powerful fashion, going close from a corner in the opening two minutes. Liam Prynn then produced a superb goal-line clearance to keep the scores level.
The Lambs took full advantage of their reprieve, grabbing the lead on 14 minutes, when Exeter City loanee Max Edgecombe whipped over a cross from the right and Prynn made sufficient contact to flick the ball past a stranded Larkhall custodian.
Unfortunately, Tavistock could only hold the lead for six minutes. Eben Mortimer-Taylor was the man on target for Larkhall, curling a delightful finish into the corner of the net. Chances continued to flow at either end of the pitch, Aaron Dearing producing a stunning save to retain parity.
More brilliance from Dearing kept the Lambs level at the break, and they almost pinched the lead when a close-range effort from Prynn was blocked on the line.
The drama continued after the break, Larkhall eventually finding a way past the inspired Dearing, with Mortimer-Taylor banging in a rebound. While Tavistock kept knocking on the door for an equaliser, their afternoon looked to be over when Larkhall were awarded a late penalty.
Step forward Dearing with another amazing save, and that was the platform for Tavi to snatch a deserved point. Prynn was given the responsibility when the Lambs were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time and he kept his nerve for a fabulous draw.
