Four Torquay arrests as Operation Harbourlight targets drug supply

Police in Torquay have arrested three men and a woman this month as part of an ongoing operation targeting drug supply in the town.

The arrests were made on Monday 26 January under Operation Harbourlight, which focuses on disrupting potential drug dealing around the Castle Circus area. The initiative, launched in June 2025, has already achieved significant results.

Sergeant Neil Powers, from Torquay’s Neighbourhood Police Team, said a large bag of suspected herbal cannabis was found in a loft, along with smaller amounts in clothing, a mobile phone, three tubs containing a white powder residue, and a substantial amount of cash.

He added: “We would like to thank the public for their support and remind them that they can hand over information to us and it will be acted upon. We will keep the pressure up and future operations are planned; tackling the supply of illegal drugs is a priority for police teams across Devon and Cornwall.”

Police believe the operation is disrupting county lines, which see drugs supplied from other towns and cities into Torbay.

Operation Harbourlight carried out seven days of action in 2025, resulting in:

  • 17 drug seizures worth over £5,000

  • 45 intelligence and disruption reports submitted

  • 53 people searched, along with several vehicles

  • 16 location visits and searches

  • Six arrests, along with four illegal E-bikes and weapons seized

All four people arrested on 26 January have been interviewed and released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information about drug dealing in Torquay can contact Devon & Cornwall Police via their website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
