Hospiscare Men’s Walk set for record year as half of places already filled

The Hospiscare Men’s Walk 2026 is on track to be the charity’s biggest yet, with organisers urging people not to delay as places continue to fill quickly.

Half of the 2,000 available places have already been taken, putting the event on course for a seventh consecutive sell-out.

The seven-mile fundraising walk takes place on Saturday 7 March, starting and finishing at Exeter’s Double Locks pub. Walkers will be rewarded along the route with a bacon roll and hot drink mid-way, and at the finish an Exeter Brewery pint (or non-alcoholic alternative) and a pasty from Chunk of Devon.

Participants will also be invited to stay on after the walk to watch Italy vs England in the Six Nations on a big screen inside the event marquee.

Hospiscare provides specialist end-of-life care for around 2,200 patients each year, but receives only 24% of its funding from the Government, relying heavily on fundraising and community donations to provide services free of charge to patients and families.

Senior Events Fundraiser Martin Stokke said: “With the continued support of our community, sponsors, and event partners, Men’s Walk has grown into an incredibly successful fundraising event.”

He added: “2026 marks a significant milestone as we welcome up to 2,000 people aged 12 and over to Double Locks for the first time as we attempt to raise more than ever before.”

Last year, 1,600 walkers raised £160,000, taking the overall Men’s Walk fundraising total to more than £1 million since 2012.

The event is run as a hybrid, with walkers able to join the main Exeter route or take part in ‘Men’s Walk: Your Way’, choosing their own route instead.

Entries for ‘Men’s Walk – Your Way’ will close on 20 February 2026, or earlier if all places are taken.
